Average New York apartment price?

I'm not looking for anything special, just an apartment AROUND Manhattan, one person, and I make a little over 500,000 a year. What's a good price and area? As an afterthought, are there any apartment that actually allow pets (a bit of a stupid question, I know, you don't have to answer that)? I don't have any, but I'm thinking of getting one in the distant future. -grins- I made a mistake up there! I make 50,000 annually, not 500,000!
